I’ll Stand By You | Cory Monteith Music Video Tribute

Where has the time gone? I cannot believe it has been 5 years! I always like to celebrate his work and him as a person. I hope you all enjoy this year’s tribute music video.

I want to thank all of my subscribers for suggesting songs for me to cover for this years tribute to Cory. “I’ll Stand by You” was always a favorite of mine, and apparently, yours as well, as I got many requests to do it. I decided to keep this music video as simple as possible. No fancy editing or big audio tracks…just me and the piano.

Please feel free to comment here a favorite episode or memory of Cory. I never met him, but maybe some of you watching were lucky enough to have met him in person.

Filmed on location in Northport Long Island. Thank you St. Paul’s Church!

A very special thanks to videographer , Patrick Sherrard. I couldn’t have done this without you.

Thanks for watching this years tribute. RIP Cory Monteith.

-Michael

Voi Che Sapete in Ab Major | Karaoke | Instrumental

Hello my fellow musician friends. Here in New York a lot of my students are preparing for music state exams, like NYSSMA, performance groups like, SCMEA and other small recital groups.

So, in addition to my other weekly music lessons and review videos, I’m going to add a separate playlist for instrumental/karaoke tracks of classical pieces. The thing that you will hopefully find helpful is that I will be transposing the piece into a different key.

A lot of times, students find it hard to sing along to music that is written in a key that is not suited for their voice. So, the keys of the pieces you find here will hopefully be in keys you can’t find anywhere else online.

This week’s piece is Voi Che Sapete.  I transposed this piece down a whole step from Bb Major to Ab Major so you can sing a long to it in a lower key.

Let me know if this helps you and if you’d like more videos like this. Or if you need a specific song transposed, let me know that too.

Thanks and don’t forget to hit that subscribe button! I’ll see you all next week.

Dream On (Live) | Aerosmith Cover by Michael Mingoia | Through the Years

What’s your favorite song of all time? Like most music lovers, I have a difficult time answering this question. My typical response to this seemingly impossible question, is whichever song I am listening to currently that I deem as a masterpiece. More on this later.

First and foremost, I hope you all enjoy this music video – a video unlike any I’ve ever attempted to do before. How did this video come to be? Well, I only had short clips of Dream On from different crowds over the years. People have asked me to upload the complete song, but I never had a complete song to upload.

Then a couple of months ago, I was asked yet again to upload a full live performance of the song when I had an idea….what if I combined all different performances to make one full-complete song?!?! I figured, it was worth a try. If the audio issues would be too difficult, then I’d ditch the project right away.

I’m happy to say, that while the audio isn’t perfect, it is pretty damn good, for spanning several different performances and 2 decades. I’m happy to share this music video with you.

I have to thank so many people. First I’d like to thank all the incredible musicians I shared the stage with over the years while performing this song. In no particular order (and you will see them in this video):

Bill Gangitano, Joe Gangitano, Charlie Mingoia, James Stewart, Kelly Gillen, Mike Mckeon, Glenn Schafer, Brendan Sparks, and Kristian Schott.

Next I’d like to thank all the videographers (in no particular order): Jackie Mingoia, Maddy Torrey, Justine Lynn, Danielle Uihlein, and Chris Baker.

Lastly, thank you to all the fans, my family and friends for all of your support over these years. Oh yeah – And Steven Tyler and Aerosmith for writing, performing and just being Rock Gods in general. I can’t imagine the feeling they get each time they perform this song to the masses.

Back to what I was saying before; there is something about Dream On by Aerosmith that seems to be in its own category as, My Favorite of All Time. It’s not the lyrics or the composition itself, but the combination of things.

I have performed this song since the formation of my first original rock band, Plateau, where we worked our teenage band into bars way before School or Rock or any performance-based-school was even a thing. It was there that I saw the magic in this song. It seemed to unite the crowd and transcend the mood of the venue into something positive. It connected all the musicians in the band to the crowd in such a consistent way each time we performed it.

As for me singing the song….well, it’s hard to explain. First, the crowd seemed to be transfixed on the entire band. Sometimes they would cheer us on as soon as they recognized the song, Other times they would applaud at the end of the song and thanked us for performing it. But, always, without fail, the crowd would scream, chant and applaud at the climax of the song when I would sing the high note Steven Tyler sang.

Fans, friends, and family who would follow the band, would ask us to play it at every show. They would tell me before the show or in between sets, “Don’t crack when you hit the high note.” At first I thought they were trying to jinx me. But, in time, I realized they wanted me to hit it and hit it strong and loud. Why?

I was told by some that the song gives them hope. There IS magic in the song. Don’t ask me how or why because I can’t fully explain it. Maybe it’s a hidden message in the song. Maybe it’s a combination of sonic bliss, high emotion, and nostalgia all in one.

What are you fighting for? What are you living for? As for me, the song means to never give up. Whether you’re following your dreams, your passion, your heart or fighting for something bigger – never give up.

That is the hidden message for me in the song. I’ll let you figure out the magic.

So, when I take the stage to sing this song, I am not only singing for me and the band. I am singing for every one in the crowd and I feel they know that. I’m happy to report I have never cracked hitting the high note live…and I can’t start now- haha! I’m not saying that to, “pat myself on the back” but to say, I feel that I haven’t let anyone down yet, when it comes to this song.

There is incredible pressure and yet, an amazing freeing feeling to sing this song to a crowd. Everyone wants me to hit that high note as if, everything will be okay if I do. I look forward to connecting to future audiences and never missing the high note.

Did I get too deep? Probably. But, that’s me.

Let me know what you think. I’ll see you all next week with a brand new video. Until then, keep that passion alive.

Dream On my friends,

-Michael

A Cure For Laryngitis? | Get Back Your Voice Today! | Documentary Style Remedy

Fighting Laryngitis- Can it be done? Yes! In this documentary, I show you how I contracted Laryngitis and how I beat it and you can too!

I wrote a book called, How to Sing When You Are Sick. In that book, I write about the tools and methods you can use to get your voice back in working shape for an upcoming show. I state in the very beginning of the book however, that I can’t help 2 things:

1. If you’re on your death bed and just can’t get out of bed, then no…most likely nothing can help you in time for the show.

2. Curing Laryngitis. If you have it, these methods won’t help.

Well, I had a couple of shows coming up and woke up with Laryngitis one morning. What did I do??? I used the methods in my book and tried some other aggressive things to cure myself and I did!!!

I recorded my process and documented everything along the way, including all the mistakes I made. So, my hope is that this video will not only get your voice back faster, it will also help you avoid my mistakes!

Here are the links to the products and videos I mention in the video:

Video #2 on the inhaler: https://youtu.be/U80lxF7zyBw

-Lost Voice

-Raspy Voice

and Fight:

-Laryngitis

-Laryngitis Symptoms

Friends, I hope you liked this video and I have helped out in some way. If you are sick, I wish you a speedy recovery and a great show! Please subscribe to my channel and share this with anyone who has laryngitis. See you next week!

A Better Day Official Music Video | Michael Mingoia | Original Music

This song was originally written for my beautiful and multi-talented friend, Danielle Sepulveres for her short film, Actually, Love. Since that time, I’ve had gotten so many people telling me how much they love this song and what it means to them.

Some have told me they go for their morning run with this song blaring in their headphones, while other’s tell me they had it on repeat while going through a tough time. I was so moved by this that I wanted to make a music video to reach more people and hope it can connect with even more people and potentially help them as well.

This music video is certainly up to interpretation and I’d love to hear about it in the comment section below. I hope you enjoy!

I would be remiss if I didn’t thank my brilliant friend, Patrick Sherrard for helping me create this video. Thank you for always having my back and for pushing me to do what I NEED to get done, creatively.

See you all next week!

-Michael
